On guns I've stocked or built I bed the forearms to the barrel, but leave a thin gap between forearm and action. Buttstocks I bed to the action. Works for my guns.

If you are good at mating wood to metal, and I mean really good, bedding is not needed. Precision inletting is a real skill few can do, so bedding, acraglas etc. is the go to solution.

I talked to Shiloh a couple weeks ago said they were starting on 2021 orders. Said I should get my letter in summer. Just trying to figure my options out on my rifle. Does the custom bedding make a big difference on accuracy? Thanks for the reply’s.

In my experience bedding is more for grip, buttstock/action area for water resistance. The forend wood where it meets the action can have an effect on accuracy when the barrel is on cross sticks and continuous firing. (gets hot) Some shooters will remove a small amount wood in this area to eliminate this problem. I don't have my 74's bedded as I don't see the need.
