I have a Farmingdale model 1874 rifle with serial #49xx. Does anyone have an idea of the year of mfr. I think it may be early 80's but I'm not sure. Thanks

Sounds right. #78xx in my possession was made summer 1986, and I believe production was a little less than 1000 per year.
