I’d like to ask about the possibility of a Creedmoor with single trigger, on a shotgun butt with straight grip. Is the military single trigger plate workable in this scenario? I would also want the shorter single trigger under lever. I expect it’s not possible but Always thought they were great looking rifles.

Yeah I always thought that was just a great looking setup. I said Creedmoor, but I actually think most of the originals you find like this were long range expresses - I think nearly every Creedmoor I've seen has had a pistol grip stock. At least combing through auctions.

Were these single triggers usually adjustable? Or were they just honed/filed to suit the shooter? I've seen one original that had an obvious set screw behind the trigger, but most don't seem to.

They are set at around 2.5 to 3 pounds

I timed out before I could add the text. I had Shiloh build me this exact rifle. I like the 32" barrel and the single set trigger is set perfectly. I shot it while I was at Ben Avery in March. Really nice rifle and historically correct for just less than a year of the original Sharps target rifle days. The pistol grip is really something you should think about if you are going to possibly shoot it in competitions.

The straight grip shotgun butt (with single trigger of course) was a standard available form for Creedmoors, but with that stock they were only checkered as an option. This was a cheaper gun than the p. grip form. Later on the Creedmoor branding was phased out I believe in favor of long range express. Of course anything at all could and did happen. It would have been a thumper in 44-90, that’s for sure and certain.

Single trigger double trigger single trigger .....

I posted about the Creedmoor silhouette rifle and many said go with a double set trigger. Sounds like you fellas are going for a single. I’m up in hothead air on which to go with. Pros cons?

I have both. The single trigger is closer to my trigger finger than is the front double. I seem always to have to stretch for it when im in the rifle. The rear set is the perfect distance for my grip and hold. The single is right there with the rear double for reach and grip.

The 1877 model has a sweet single trigger.
I actually switched my order to the single trigger once I tried the single trigger on Kirk's rifle.
Soon I will be playing with mine own 1877.

My hunting rifle has a single trigger and it breaks crisp at 2# 4 oz. I wish all of my Shilohs had a single trigger.
I have short fingers and the lever beats my middle finger up after a weeks shooting at matches.
I have a Creedmoor silhouette rifle that had a single trigger but like a dummy I had Kirk inlay a double set and he did a fine job, but somewhere down the line I will have him put the single back in.
