Quigley build questions

I placed my order for my Quigley 45 2-7/8 in July 2019 with an estimated 15 month delay to the start of build. I paid off the rifle in December 2019, then 2020 arrived and everything went out the window.

I've only contacted Shiloh a couple time to check on status since I know they are attempting to catch up and recover from the Chinese attack. The last time was a few weeks ago and Hana informed me that it began production in Mid-May.

At this point, I have not received any letter, phone call, nothing asking questions about what chamber based on whether I plan on shooting GG or PP.

I had assumed I would be getting that call or letter or something, but maybe I'm incorrect?

I have been able to acquires some 45 2-7/8 Norma brass along with 45 3-1/4 Norma that I'll have to cut down. My plan is to only load and shoot PP as that's how these were intended. Sadly, all my reloading stuff is in storage since we are trying to build our new house, so getting anything ready for the Q is going to be delayed.

Need to start buying bullets though, so am looking for guidance, suggestions. Looking at BACO PPB444530 with 9# paper.

If you want a special chamber you need to contact Shiloh and tell them. I believe it comes with the standard chamber 45 degree. If you want something else you will need to specify what you want.

Well, apparently it's now too late to do anything about it. Just got off the phone and was told I needed to have that conversation when I first placed the order or prior to the barrel being cut. Now that it's in production, too late for modifying for PP.

Kind of really pisses me off that there was zero question regarding this when I placed the order in July 2019, zero contact or questions prior to production beginning.

Believe it or not, not all of us are born knowing all about these rifles.

The truth is, the standard chamber is the best choice anyway.

No need to be pissed off. The standard chamber will work with both GG & PP. It's all a learning curve no matter which way you go. There is no magic chamber you just have to learn how to load what you want to shoot. Be patient it will work out just fine.

Spent the weekend with one of the biggest and first proponents of paper patch in the Shiloh. He told me don't buy the BS of a special chamber to shoot PP. I trust what this individual says and would just go with the standard chamber and it will work fine.

jackrabbit, Dan O and JeffFaldo,

Well, thanks. That's a relief to hear. My only direct experience is my C. Sharps 1875 in .40-65 that I shoot GG in. Fantastic rifle and I have it pretty much dialed in.

There is so much conflicting info on these things, I was really getting worried that a major step had been missed.

Guess I need to place an order with BACO.

I had Shiloh cut the 7 degree leed in two of my 40 caliber rifles many years after they were delivered.
So do not worry about either GG or PP bullets.

Keep on hav'n fun!

You said a mouthful! When I started shooting BPC, I read Mike Venturino's book and jumped in. It was a learning process, but now it's time for me to learn paper patched bullets. Another learning curve.
