Lever action

Post by captruss »

I watch Quigley, which I understood the rifle was built by Shilo and it's a lever action to eject the shell but the rifles I see for sale don't appear to operate that way,, what gives??? Just trying to get all the info I can before ordering!

Captrus,

Welcome to the Shiloh Sharps Formum.

Yep, you are at the right place.

The rifle in the movie is similar (identical??) to the Quigley model on the Shiloh site. You would need to talk to Kirk to determine how identical that model is to the movie version. My understanding is that there is no difference between the stock Quigley Rifle and the Movie Rifle.

These are all single shot rifles, regardless if they are brass cartridge or paper cartridge. The rifles are "period correct".

The ornate "trigger guard" is actually a lever. It opens the breach of the rifle for reloading. On the other hand, it is not a lever similar to what is used on a Henry or Winchester. It does not load the next cartridge from a magazine.

Good morning, the gun in the movie is a Shiloh 1874 Quigley, works the same and looks the same. Kirk Bryan

Now that Canoe and Kirk explained the rifle you also need to know that owning a Shiloh will regrow your lost hair, make you better looking, and vastly improve your appeal to the ladies.

Well, I could sure use the hair,, did grow a beard to cover my ugly mug though and any more ladies would surely liquidate my current and future gun inventory... I think I really gotta to find somebody or somewhere (reasonably close to South Florida) where I can at least see one of these things in the flesh.. As with most things,, sometimes you see thing a little different than just reading or looking at pixs of them.
