Would this Sporter #3 make Weight?

Post by KHR »

I was thinking a sporter #3 with heavy barrel with a 28" length. Schabel (sp?) tip military butplate, in 40-70 ss. Plain wood. 113 front sight, #108 Sharps Mid Range rear sight. I thought that maybe the 28" length with the clasic (lighter) sharps sight might make weight. Would this be under 12.2 lbs?

Any guesstimate as to aproximate weight?

am I correct that a mid range sight can reach 1000 yrds? I thought I read somewhere that some are using the mid range for 1000 yards

thanks
:-)

KHR,
I wittnessed that 40-70 SS highwall shooter with the mid-range sight shoot to 1000 yards with 69 grains of Swiss 1.5. What was left over for increased elevation in the event of adverse conditions, I do not know. Hope someone with a mid-range sight will jump in here.
Keep on hav'n fun!
