Where to buy lead on the East Coast?

Post by Gary »

Can someone tell me where I might buy 20/1 casting lead on the east coast? I'm in central N.Y. and would drive to pick it up. Gary

Lead in the NY area

Gary - did you get the Shiloh you ordered yet? I have a few pounds that I can spare, it came from a hospital x-ray room that was redone. You will need to play around with some tin/lead to get the 20-1. The tin you can buy at Home depot in rolls (kinda pricey around $10.00) that is used for soldering these days. I went back to work at Par tech in New Hartford. Let me know if you get around that area and I'll give you some to start you off say 15 lbs. Manny

Gary

Try a local recycle yard, sheet lead for roofing is about 90% lead and 10% animony. Ask and they may have some lead from xray rooms which is about 99% lead and 1% animony. Here in Michigan its about .24 cents per lbs. I just missed out on getting 1500 lbs xray lead for .08 a lbs. :( Maybe next time.
