Double set trigger addition to 1863 rifle

Post by dm3280 »

I have an 1863 rifle and was wondering if it would be possible to change out the single trigger to double set triggers? If so what would be the cost of this change? Would I be able to do it or would I need to send it back to the factory?
Thanks

Hi, I'm sorry I missed this question. We can put a double set in, call the office and they will give you the cost. Thanks Kirk

Dear DM:
How does that '63 shoot? I am thinking about buying one.

Thanks,

Josh
No words of mine can hope to convey to you the ringing joy and hope embodied in that spontaneous yell: “The Americans are coming; at last they are coming!”

I hadn’t the heart to disillusion them.

The gun shoots just as well as the 1874. At 50 yards I have put 5 shots in one hole. They are very accurate.

Go out and get the "Shoot" magazine. There is an article on the 1863 and the writter is able to shoot what looks like a 3 inch group with the gun. You may not be able to shoot out to 1000 yards as well as the 1874 but hey, I cann't even see that far. 200 yards is my limit with open sights. I enjoy the 1874 but to be honest, I enjoy the 1863 a little more. They do require a little more work to make a paper cartridge but I can make up several while I watch TV.
