Wait until you get cataracts like the rest of us. Paralax adjustment does not help.

Yes I had may cataracts removed before I was the International Schuetzenfest Benchrest Champion in 2013 at the ISSA US Nationals.

But I was also the International Schuetzenfest Benchrest Champion in 2008 and beat Earl Hines 1241/1250 record by 4 points in 2007 when I had severe cataracts and could not even see the target never mind the crosshairs.

That was when I learned the value of aperture sights when you have physical eye challenges.

Yes you need to adjust the parallax on your scope to see them well, but my comments were made to use an aperture in your scope for those that can no longer see the black dots or crosshairs on the black silhouette targets.

Of course those organge targets are a different story.

Nothing about blaming the equipment, but advising people (that have seeing constraints) that some other options may be better for them.

I think most that have shot for a while using a scope know how adjust the parallax on a scope. Cataracts and large floaters in the center of vision makes it very hard to see the #110 fine cross hairs unless the light is good. The 7 M mill dots are too large to hold on the target. And floaters, not much you can do with them. Talked to my Eye Doc and he said they can remove the jell in your eye and filter the floater out and inject it back in, but chances are you will have more problems than you do now if they do this.
There was a time when I did not have a problem seeing a 1/8 min dot in my Lyman, Unertl scops on any target, but not anymore.

Kenny I think you will find that groups like this will shrink more as you work with this powder. Also you will find that this powder has several different compression levels with different weight bullets and powder granulations. Groups like you just shot are not unusual and even smaller groups are more repeatable with this powder.

Kenny just about all the work I've done with Eynsford has been in bottlenecks, so most of what I've found isn't particularly useful to most folks. I am looking forward to this season when some of you hard holders actually run the stuff. I think there's some real potential for new records with this powder.

Any of you guys setting on the fence about getting your cataracts done are just pizzin away your own time and ours by whining about it. Everybody I know that has had the procedure is so absolutely thrilled to be able to see again. Some are even reporting better vision than they ever had. Carol can see our small gong well enough since she had the cataracts done, she can swat our small gong from 700 yds with the soule sights on her rifle, last year she couldn't even see it at 700 yds.

Well Kurt,

That group was shot in overcast skies, at 200 yards, the 4 shots are .42 MOA even with shot 5 being a bad break it is still sub MOA at 200 yards. That group is only .200 larger then the current World a Record in The 5@200 match.

I disagree on the dots being too big, I won two national titles with this same scope. I can hold of with center dot and see the X at 1000 yards.

Oh well if this stuff shot any tighter I would freak.

If I missed it I apologize Kenny but can you tell us what primer you were using? Great shooting as usual.

Kurt,
My wife had the Vitriectomy in both eyes ( They pump the Vitreous Humor out and Saline in.) One at a time.
This was due to extreme Asteroid floaters. ( They were amazed that she could see at all)

Then, as they had forwarned, cataract formation increases.

Then, she had the cataracts removed. Again, one at a time after each Vitriectomy.

Now, she was able to "throw away" her glasses and retook here drivers license vision test and they removed
the glasses requirement from her licence.

She now only uses cheap reading glasses if the print is small.

Wonderful!
The surgeon doing her Vitriectomy is at the Marshfield (WI) Clinic. He has done literally Thousands of these procedures.
Outpatient , also

Yeah, well, I have made friends with my floaters.

Don,
Please, if you will, which lens did your wife have installed, the near-sighted or far-sighted? If I were to ever have this cataract surgery done I would want to be able to see the front aperture clearly rather than see the faraway objects clearly and lose vision up close. Or, can you have the best of both worlds?

For my wife, the Vitriectomy and cataract procedures were like "turning on the lights again"
She can now see well both near and far- at 77yrs old. 20/20 uncorrected.
As said, only uses cheap reading glasses for fine print.
THere is a HIGH degree of success for these procedures.

And this restoration of her eyes is "holding" as she had this work done 7 and 8 years ago.

Primers are the old Winchester white box.

I have acquired a good supply of them over the years, Federal 210 will work just as well. The old 110 has never done as well with pistol primers for me, I put the primer wad inside the case also. Loading method was the same for this test, as my standard Express load, only change was the powder, I tried 107 grs first it was too much filled the case full even with a drop tube.

What I search for, is a load that gives me a powder height of .190 to .215 from the case mouth after drop tubing and placing a .060 veg fiber wad on the powder column, I compress the powder then .385, a poly wad of .056 is placed on top of the veg wad, finally the felt wad 1/8 last. The above is only used for Fg Goex powders. Swiss Fg Jimbo uses an amount that needs .050 to.100 compression. However we have had the phone lines heated up past 3 Days over this Eynsford, he will adjust the wad stack to get his OAl length set with the money micro-mini. He has had excellent luck with Fg Swiss, year before last, at 800 yards at Byers, we had quite a day I was in good form spotting and was Jimbo was making great breaks he posted a new national record of 148/150 for 15 shots  last year at Byers he took the big money match no spotters.

I have been shooting this same old rifle since 1994, this is barrel #2 and breach block #2, Kirk went through the lock on the rebarrel and replaced the block at that time also, just shy of 20k mark that was 2005. I spent 2009,10,11,12 shooting Dora and promoting the Tollofson class. In 13 I went back too my old favorite, it never missed a lick, did very well at Phoenix, another Creedmoor cup, and A Scope regional title, Raton the scope title. I spotted for friend Steve Hamilton who won the mile match with it setting a new record, plus I set a record of 8/10 hits in one relay.

10 years ago I started making a serious study of bullet bases even shooting off the target at 1000 yards the recovering bullets, my shorted version of Dan T's NASA mono-groove getting the most attention I finally came up with a wad Combo that gives a nice flat base and no fining on recovered bullets.

You can find, a good load with Goex at about .250 compression, it will shoot very well to 300 or so, it will show some vertical by 600 and more so at 800, I upped the charge until vertical went away even at 1000. I had two loads of express that shot well in my book 106 grs and 108, the 106 would not hold my 36 inch bull for vertical at 800, where as the 108 did. The 110.8 grain load if I do my part.......is like a lazer beam too 1 mile.

I spent years finding this out, it is all in Edwin Perry's book though. Perfect you fouling control, decrease the vertical with more powder.

Remember though this just pertains too match-target rifle accuracy. Steve Rhoades helped me test this stuff at Phoenix at long range, on practice day, we both were impressed.

I will be giving it a go at Byers in Aug going after that money match, and will be using it in Sept At Raton.

Thanks for posting this thread, Kenny.

I just ordered 5 lbs of the Olde Eynsford to try with some money bullets I have. I haven't been impressed with them using Swiss 1 1/2 - the 535gr. Lyman postel shoots quite good with it though but I'll try the Eynsford with the postels as well.
