New Rifle
Finishing up an MVA action .40-65 I’m building. If this is of interest I’ll post a few more photos.

Re: New Rifle
Started out with a single set trigger MVA action. Had to do a bit of filing on the action and quite a bit of filing to get a more graceful line to the lever. Then a lot of stoning to get it ready for case hardening. All in all it is a very nice action that just needs a little work to finish it up. MVA says it’s about .005” oversized so it cleans up well. I started on this project a few years ago before I got my lathe, mill, surface grinder and heat treat oven so had to send it of to Turnbull for case hardening. The barrel is a RKS stainless gain twist. My neighbor Ron Snover chambered it with a custom reamer from Manson and also turned and octagoned the barrdel and I did all the finishing. Nice to have my own machinery so I can do all the work in house from now on.

Re: New Rifle
If you can, get a hardness check on the firing pin link cam, I had a couple wear prematurely, made replacements from A-2, HT&T to Rc 55/60
