2024 Oregon Territory BPCR Silhouette Regional Championships
May 8-12, 2024

Sponsored by the Bear Creek Shooting Sports Club and sanctioned by the Bear Creek Range.

LOCATION: Bear Creek Range, 9 miles east of John Day, Oregon. Please call or email for directions: 503-319-1722 or stan4065@gmail.com

TIME: First Relay at 9:30 am. – Range open for practice Tuesday, May 7 and after the conclusion of the daily matches.

EQUIPMENT: Hearing and eye protection required. NRA rules for rifle and equipment apply. Any safe single shot breech loading rifle of American design patent produced prior to 1896 with exposed hammer, original or reproduction, using metallic sights typical of the era. Maximum weight is 12 lbs 2 oz. Rifles must be chambered for cartridges of the American black powder era.
Ammunition to be lead or lead alloy charged with Black powder or pyrodex. No smokeless allowed.

COMPETITION: Competition is open to all. NRA classification required, available at registration. Classes based on number of competitors. $ 10 late fee after April 28, 2024.

COURSE OF FIRE: These will be 40 shot matches, 10 shots each as follows: Chickens-200 meters, Pigs-300 meters, Turkeys-385 meters, and Rams-500 meters. All ties to be shot off. Scope match to be shot on Thursday and Friday. Iron Sight matches to be shot on Saturday and Sunday. White Buffalo award to overall five day aggregate any sight or combination of sights. 22 match will be held on Wed, May 8th.

ENTRY FEES: $75 for iron sight matches and $75 for scope classes. .22 entry $30. Entries open to all participants.

AWARDS: There will be awards for Match winner and First, Second and Third Place in each class depending on the number of competitors in each class, plus special categories. NRA Regional Award Medals will be awarded to the Top 3 Places in Scope & Iron Sight Matches. Awards will be given at the conclusion of the match.

GENERAL INFORMATION: Bring your own water, as none is available at the range. Dry camping is permitted at range. Motels & RV parks are available in the area. Potluck dinner on Saturday night at the range. Must be present to win prizes given by drawing – tickets are non-transferable. Gate will be open on Tuesday afternoon. Let Stan know if you are arriving earlier.

The White Buffalo Award is given to the shooter with the highest overall aggregate score for the .22, Scope & Iron Sight matches. This year, there will also be an award for the Spotter of the White Buffalo Award Winner, to recognize the importance and contribution of a good spotter to successful shooting.
