Nice buck, and great pics.
He looks very tasty.
I've got a bunch running around my yard, and farm too.
I can't hunt with a rifle here though, something about a residential area.
I like guns, knives and having a job.
That's why I vote conservative.

Nice TX Buck

Post by O-1A »

Scott,
That is a nice buck. Looks to be about 3.5 years old. If you let him go a couple of more years, he will put on more mass. Probably won't put on any more points but he will have lots of mass to him.

I just got in from hunting and passed on two big bucks. One is a big eight like yours and is also about 3.5 years old. The other was a big 10 point with small kickers. He is only about 4.5 years old. The reason for passing on them is because the landowner wants to save the 10 pointers until they are about 5-6 years old. Besides I was hunting a doe for meat. Got a good doe with my Shiloh Sharps 45-70. Took her at 100 yds through the lungs. She would only give me a quartering shot. She ran 20 yds. and dropped.

Good luck during the season. :D

No Ray,

I may not get to hunt for a while. Things at work are just at a nightmare's pace at this point.

I am hoping for a little cold weather!

Scott, so if you can shoot him with the camera there shouldn't be a problem with your big nose Kate, right? I expect he is already at the butcher shop.

Actually, I was not there when the photos were taken. Unfortunate too because he was only about 60yds from the tripod!
