A mechanical pencil is a good tool for reloading BP and finger seated soft grooved bullets. Put the pencil tip at the edge of the base of the bullet, graphite in the pencil. Next begin pushing the graphite out so that it passes over the shank until the tip is even with the point on the bullet you want to seat it too. Shorten this length of graphite by your desired compression and card thickness. The remaining length of graphite allows you to guage the proper height of BP in the case. When you compress with the compression die, use the original length of graphite, before you shortened it, to show you how far down to adjust your compression die. Keep Turing the die down until the tip of the graphite rests on the top of the card and the case mouth is even with where the graphite comes out of the pencil.
