Had to order an infrared thermometer from Sears and when it arrived today it was rated only up to 515 degrees F. That obviously will not do. Unfortunately the Sears people barely knew about this one and have no idea if there is another model that will go to above 800 degrees.
So those of you that are using them could you supply a make/model number and the vendor and site the temperature range?

Excuse my ignorance, i'm assuming you guys are using the infrared thermometer to measure lead pot temps. Since i don't cast yet i'm only guessing because of the temperatures mentioned.
But, has anyone used the infrared thermometer to measure the temperature rise of a barrel while shooting a string?
Among other things, this might be useful for lube purposes.
