Before I get out the welder and tack weld the blasted thing into place, anyone have a fix for keeping the screw holding the hammer to the tumbler tight. I have tried Blue Lock-Tight and have thought about a thin brass shim stock washer. screw constantly loosens.

Did you degrease the screw, and the threads in the tumbler, before applying the LocTite?

Did you really shake the bottle of loctite before use? You get your best results if you do.
Remove the screw, and with a Q-tip that's damp with IPA clean the inside thread area and apply just a drop of 'blue' again to the screw. Let it set-up overnight in a warm area.

Have to expose my ignorance here......what is IPA ? Similar to DNA (denatured alcohol)?

I noticed mine was loose the last time out shooting so might have to take this suggestion.

IPA is Isopropyl Alcohol. I find it to be a better cleaner than DNA.

The best cleaner to use is acetone it dries clean no film there is also a locktite primer in little spray cans that will set the lock tite off for full holding power.
FWIW: red is the next holding power up but you have to use heat to break it loose to remove the screw so not recommended for use there, not good on the bluing

Tom,
DNA (denatured alcohol) is actually ethanol (booze) poisoned with methanol (wood alcohol) so as to make it undrinkable for medical use.

IPA (isopropyl alcohol) is commonly used as a deicing fluid and as a paint thinner it is an oily alcohol and less corrosive to metals.

Thanks to all for your suggestions/advice. I will act on them and on Ray's suggestion as well. I have fought this problem for years and am tired of it. Not going to take it anymore. It interferes with my enjoyment of my low scores.

If you want to get a red Loctite screw loose just heat the screwdriver tip and hold it on the screw before you twist it. don't put the flame on the screw.
I had the screws on my forearm come loose after a few shots fired and used blue Loctite but when the barrel got hot they came loose again. Red held them till I wanted to take the wood off to dry it after a rain. A hot screw driver worked fine.

The tip of a soldering iron, works even better.

If blue Locktite won't get the job done, then there is something wrong with your lock or hammer or both. I'm wondering if the tenon of the tumbler does not mate well with the hammer so it rocks a bit when you operate it. That might loose that screw. If it is fit correctly, then the hammer shouldn't be putting hardly any rotational load on those threads and nothing would move. Seems like an odd problem if Loctite won't get it done.
