Well, you know what they say about parachutes............I'd rather have one & not need it, than need it & not have one.
Same for a hand gun.
There have been plenty of times, whether at the Quigley, the Mt 1000 yrd, Big Hill, The World Championship, Medicine Rocks, at Bowman, the wind has been raising hell, we'd been better off sitting in the shade drinking Pepsi or Coke, instead of shooting, but, alas, we shot, just cranked on the sights a little more, I can drink a can of Pepsi without leaving home.
Gong matches
At Bowman years back, on the 1000 yd, when I was done there was a total of 23 Ft of left wind needed
yep.
It's not unusual (kinda normal) to have 12.5-25 minutes of wind cranked in the sight when you're reaching 700-1000, 1200 yds
The wind blows
Silhouette
We shoot 2 '74's, one 38-55, 335 gr, 44 grs 3F, one 45-70, 518 RG - 537 MG, 75 grs 1 1/2 & a Hi Wall 40-65, 387 RG, 66 grs 2F.
All have MVA Long Range Buffalo Soule sights mounted, neither the staff nor the extra windage are an interference in any way.
45-70, 1023 yds, elevation is, depending on the bullet I use, 168-175 ish, 1200 yds 185 ish
Quigley Dust bowl, 2010 ish?
I noticed quite a few "Regular" windage sights that were cranked off the scale
The MVA #100 $457 & #103 $485, have, I believe, the same elevation adjustment, the #103 "Buffalo" difference is the extra wind. For less than $30 bucks, you'll have it
OR
The MVA #102, Mid range Buffalo, $457, has 225 for elev & the "Buffalo" windage, take the $28 bucks & get the knurled knob, (pretty handy when switching from irons to scope in silhouette matches)
