I've just received my new Shiloh with extra extra fancy wood.
If anyone would like to see it,,,
TELL ME HOW TO POST THE DARN PICTURES!

I am computer literate so not much brain trouble (my wife may disagree)

You have to upload the picture to another site and then provide a link to that picture. Shiloh does not provide space to store pictures.

Go to the attachments tab which will be the box below your message box.
Click the "Add Files" button.
Locate the picture you are wanting to post and select it.
It should import into the attachments window.
Click on the "Place inline" button and it should be placed into your message.

For example (this is not mine, just a picture of a Borchardt I found)
Borchardt model 1878 .jpg
It would be better if people would put their pictures on the Shiloh site, because they will stay there for future reference in case an offsite account is closed.

It always says"file too large" everytime I try to attach something. The only time I got it to work, I had lowered the resolution to the point that it was blurry. Any ideas?

Beautiful rifle by the way!! Thanks for posting!

Thanks for the photo posting instructions. I've been using IMGUR, which is a free photo hosting service to post photos for this & other sites. It works great but following your directions is easier. I'll try it here to see how it works for me. The following is a photo of bunch of feral hogs under a feeder on or west Texas deer lease.

One thing the picture of my 74 does not show is the plain area ahead of the crotch grain on the butt is
tiger striped. really deep stripes that will come out with oiling.
it really has about 90% coverage and I was a furniture factory rep. for 20 years.....

I'm really pleased. again ...this is Extra extra fancy wood at about a $500 upcharge.
worth it I think...Ken

Beautiful rifle! I am also a new Shiloh owner and your post brings up a question. What do You guys use to wipe down the wood?

I ordered it with an oil finish which leaves the wood natural. I wiped it a couple of times with Tong oil, put on with a small rag and wiped off.
now, I'll use my own blend of Boiled Linseed oil and lemon oil which will enter the wood and bring out the grain after a time. The more I wipe it in, the more grain will come out. Ever see an old English top of the line shotgun stock? That's it!

I will do that every time I clean after shooting and let it stand in the safe without touching for a day. a piece of Burlap will buff it out nicely.

Remember if you use Boiled Linseed oil to keep the rag outside until trash day. I WiLL burn you house down.
It is a self combustible.....be careful.

here are some picts of my 50 90 that is 20 years old. the wood is xxxx presentation walnut, and I stocked it myself, and even poured the Pewter nose cap. fit is 100% zero gaps, zero wood 'edges'.
DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME BOYS AND GIRLS.... this takes about 15 years before you do you first one,
Treebone wood by the way.
hope the pictures come out.
this is the oiled finish after a lot of rubbing....Ken
