So back to the wads for a minute…would a felt wad over a fiber wad give results similar to a HDPE wad stack?

If using the dry lubed muzzleloader original felt wads , it works better with paper patch. IMHO

I ask because I'm starting to work on a load for my new rifle (45-90), both my molds are greasers. In 45-70 I used an .060 Walter wad with a parchment paper release wad and it seemed to work OK... In the bigger cases, everyone seems to be using more/thicker wads. Has anyone tried running two .060 Walter wads? I was hoping not to be littering up the range with plastic but if there's no choice...

When I stooped to shooting greasers I find a single .060 fiber wad in the 2.4 cases work fine.
Felt wads are best under a patched bullet, but a dry felt 1/8 wad under a greaser might work alright.

A long time ago when I had at 4570 I used those dry lubercated wads in it when I ran out of the other wads I used two of them under a 550 grain bullet and a 75 grain powder charge they worked just fine and the barrel was quite clean so yeah you can put whatever you want as long as you don’t leave airgap in there. As to accuracy your rifle will let you know when it ain’t compatible
