KAL case stretcher

I'm looking for some opinions on the KAL case stretcher. I'm considering ordering one due to the lack of 45-100 brass, I have plenty of 45-90 brass and I'm concerned that the stretching of the case won't make up the difference or have a case life issue due to thinning. Any help or guidance would be appreciated.

Baco used 2.6 cases to make 2.8 for years. And it worked fine. Starline 90 brass is thick so it should be aboutthe same.

The KAL stretcher will turn a 2.4 case into a 2.45 case, but it won't turn a 2.4 case into a 2.6 case.

You need a lathe or something else to do that.
MDeland could have helped you there but he no longer comes here.

What if you cut down some of the stretched 2.8 starline. Back to where they were?

In going back and looking at my 45-90 cases now that they have a couple firings on them, I'm noticing a lot of cases that are up to .010" short of 2.4". I have not resized any brass or trimmed it either. I got one of these case stretchers and after watching the video a couple times and trying it out, it seems easy enough to use.

My question is this: Once I stretch out my brass, I will need to trim it back to uniform length. My chamber measures 2.410". Is there any advantage to trimming the brass a little long, say 2.405", or, should I just stick with 2.40"?

Thanks!!

Johnny,
After reading numerous posts in this forum I have decided to trim my brass to .005” short of the max case length for both pp & gg bullets. My 40-65 gets trimmed to 2.110”.

FWIW,
Steve

The advantage is no paper or lead rings in the chamber to cause other problems. My 40-50 sbn was about.040” short and I had little fingernail like clippings of lead when I swabbed the chamber between shots.

Steve

I'm currently streaching 30-40 kraig Winchester brass from 2.270 to 2.520 in one pass with a k tool

Mike had a lot of good shop work posts.
Wayne (TexasMac's) had a lot of foresight saving Mikes nibbing cases. They can be stretched to a good length if it's done properly.
TNX. Wayne for your great web site.
