Weight of 1877 #1 English Rifle

Post by rkaires »

Hi,

I ordered a 1877 #1 in .45-90 with a 32" half heavy barrel. I'm looking for an estimate on how much it will weight minus any sights.

Thanks in advance,
Bob

I have a half round 32” standard barrel on one of my 74’s and the 77’s barrel is bigger, how much bigger I can’t say without measuring .

Just looked at my paper work and it shows “Business Rifle” profile . I didn’t select that when I ordered the rifle I requested a round barrel perhaps that is why it’s bigger than the standard weight barrel.

The business rifle barrel is the heavy round. Military barrel is the light round.

The “Business Rifle” contour is not an option on the 1877’s option page.

Mine shoots excellent as well I’m not complaining just don’t know how or why it was changed from a round standard barrel to the Business Rifle.

Good morning,
There is only one round profile for the 77, it's heavier than a business round, not as much taper.
As far as the weight of a heavy half 32" barrel, I've not weighed one but it should be somewhere around 10.5 to 11 lbs.

Thank you Kirk!

That's the info I needed. I want to make sure it makes the 12lb 2oz limit for the creedmoor matches in Oak Ridge. I should be able to have a mercury reducer added as well.

My 1877 weighs an even 12 pounds. It has a 32 in round barrel, steel buttplate and MVA base with XLR rear sight. It also has a 112 front sight.
